The Society promotes research in physiotherapy, so that a firm scientific knowledge base is developed, from which more effective physiotherapy practice may be delivered and patient services enhanced. We encourage high quality research relevant to physiotherapy practice and education and help foster critical awareness throughout the profession.

The Society aims to disseminate the results of research both within the profession and beyond.

Call for Papers

The PRS invites original, unpublished research projects for oral or poster presentations. All health professions are strongly encouraged to submit their research. We invite research relating to, but not restricted to, the topic Research and Clinical Practice: A Two Way StreetWe especially encourage research projects that are interdisciplinary in nature, and/or linking research and practice. The abstracts of no more than 350 words plus up to two references should cover background, methods, results and discussion in an unstructured research summary.

Research protocols that are funded and/or registered detailing background and purpose, methods, and projected implications are also welcome. The deadline for submission is the 31st December 2017. Submitters will be notified by the 16th February 2017 whether their abstracts have been selected and in which form, for poster or oral presentation.

Through the PRS’ association with leading physiotherapy journals, the accepted abstracts will be considered for publication in a research summary form, subject to authors’ permission and editorial board approval of the selected journal.

The presentations will be in three formats -

  1. Standard Platform Presentation - 10 minute presentation followed by 5 mins discussion/ questions.
  2. Rapidfire Presentation -  5 mins presentations with discussion after the session.
  3. Poster Presentation - Guidelines will be provided after selection procedure is completed.
